Terms of Use

These conditions apply whenever you use Hickory People Search. Use of the service means that you accept them. Please leave the service if you do not accept these terms.

1. Nature of the Service

Hickory People Search is an independently operated reference service. It describes public records, court indexes, directories, and official lookup portals connected with Hickory, North Carolina. It does not host government files and has no affiliation with a government agency, court, or records custodian.

2. Acceptable Use

You may use the service only in a lawful way. Neither the service nor information reached through it may be used to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person
  • Locate a person protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Commit identity theft or fraud
  • Make FCRA-regulated decisions (credit, employment, tenant, insurance)
  • Collect, reproduce, or publish this content at scale
  • Disrupt the operation or security of the service

3. No Consumer Reports

Hickory People Search is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. ยง 1681 et seq. Content here and results supplied by a linked search tool are not consumer reports. They cannot be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another FCRA-regulated purpose.

4. External Services

Links may open government portals or outside services, including sponsored search tools. Each destination sets its own terms and privacy rules. We do not control its content, uptime, prices, or treatment of submitted data.

5. Warranty Disclaimer

The service is supplied "as is" and "as available." No express or implied warranty is made. Information may be incomplete, old, or wrong, and a linked portal may be unavailable or return an inaccurate match.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent the law allows, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages caused by use of the service or a linked resource, including reliance on a retrieved record.

7. Indemnity

You agree to defend and hold the service operators harmless from claims or demands, including reasonable attorneys' fees, that arise from misuse of the service or a breach of these terms.

8. Site Content Rights

Copyright protects the original writing, design, logo, and layout. You may link to a page or quote a brief passage with attribution. Republishing a full page or systematically copying the content is prohibited.

9. Term Changes

We may revise these conditions by posting an updated version here. Continued use after a revision is posted indicates acceptance of it.

10. Restricting Access

Access may be limited or blocked, without notice and at our discretion, when a user breaks these terms or abuses the service.

11. North Carolina Law

North Carolina law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Public access descriptions refer to the North Carolina Public Records Law in Chapter 132, including G.S. 132-1, 132-6, and 132-6.2. Those statutes regulate custodians, not this private service.

12. Severability

If one provision cannot be enforced, every remaining provision stays effective.
